Kingdom Kids Haiti
In the spring of 2022, Jerry Myhan came to Mision Para Cristo in Jinotega, Nicaragua with a group from Harding University Carr College of Nursing. The group did physical exams and growth charting for nutritional status assessment for the Kingdom Kids' new locations. At the end of the week, Jerry approached Mision Para Cristo about what it would take to develop a sponsorship program like Kingdom Kids with the Duty School for Christ, in Duty, Haiti. Jerry, his wife Dianne, their three children and a dedicated team of Christian health workers and teachers operated a Health Clinic in association with the church from August 1985 to June 1988 in CapHaitien, Haiti. They were in Haiti when the church and school were built in Duty.
Benny and Donna Baker, founders of Mision Para Cristo, traveled to Haiti for an assessment of the school on May 9, 2022. The Duty School for Christ was opened in 1986. Classes consist of 200+ students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Many supporters who previously helped develop the school are no longer able to continue their support, some having completed their lives in this world. A Haitian teacher’s average monthly salary is about $150. However, School Administrator Joel D. Joseph had only been able to pay salaries of $10-$20 a month. Yet many teachers have shown their dedication by remaining loyal and continuing to teach in the school. Some of the current teachers are former students of the school. Our visit helped us realize the need for the Duty School for Christ to continue.
After much prayer and research, Jerry, Benny and Donna returned to Duty on August 30th to establish Kingdom Kids/MPC Haiti. Philipe Dorcius & Raymond Donatien were named Co-Sponsors/Coordinators.
Now we need sponsors for the students to have a quality Christ centered education with spiritual development. Sponsorship of a student for $39 a month provides books, educational supplies, paper, pencils, notebooks, a hot lunch meal, and teacher salary support. We invite you to join us.
Misión Para Cristo (Mission for Christ) is a non-profit, international development mission and has been a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Jinotega (Northern) region of Nicaragua since 1997. And is registered in Texas as a non-profit incorporated organization. We operate under the oversight of the Grapevine Church in Grapevine, Texas.
