Rain in Nicaragua Continues! Need Increases

October 4, 2010
Dear Friends,

Thanks to all for your prayers and support to help us to respond to the continuing problems in Nicaragua from the rain. The problems are not just in Nicaragua. The problems are from Mexico to Nicaragua. And the rains continue.

The front page of the La Prensa on-line copy on 29 September listed eight articles about the rain and flooding. Three articles write of water levels compared to those of Hurricane Mitch. Two very concerning articles to us were plans to open the flood gates of Lake Apanas and that of the historical levels of the Rio Coco. The greatest concern of all is that the weather predictions are for the rain to continue.

When the weather breaks and it is possible, some of our team will be going to Moncotal to visit a community that Renaldo, the preacher at Yankee, has found that needs immediate help. We are Quick read more or view full article also working with the Mayor’s office to provide milk for the community of Villa Norte.

On September the 29th we secured a container of rice/veg mix through Hungry Plus that will be shipped on October 12th. The container will have 271,000 serving of the mix. The food is free except for a $750 processing fee. However, we need to raise $8,000 to cover the cost of shipping and distribution of the mix. This is one of the two containers we need to secure immediately.

Over the next couple of months we are looking to develop groups to come to Nicaragua to help us with the response to the rains. The two main areas we need to address are: Medical and Construction. We are looking at dates for the weeks starting October 24th, November 7th, November 28th, and December 5th. The groups will help with mobile clinics, food distribution and construction. The groups coming on November 28th and December 5th will also be a part of our annual “Smiles” distribution. Contact us today if you could join us to help at one of these times.

We need your help to respond to the growing needs caused by the rains. Please send your response to: Misión Para Cristo, 128 Highway Church Lane, Judsonia, AR 72081 (Mark Rains) or you can make an immediate secure contribution through our website: www.misionparacristo.com with PayPal.

Please continue to keep the people from Mexico to Nicaragua being affected by the rains in your prayers.
